GOOD NEWS
Jesus invites you to a journey of faith. This is a journey towards him in discovery and a journey with him in relationship. The best place to learn about the faith is with the people of faith. Mimico Baptist Church is a safe, fun and exciting place to experience and explore issues of faith. Consider Alpha, or other opportunities to learn.
To embrace the Christian faith or rather to be embraced by it consider your response to Jesus.
Look at these passages.
1 Corinthians 15:1-6 The Resurrection of Christ
1 Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance : that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.
Romans 10:8-13
8But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” 12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile–the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
The following is a suggested prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus:
I know that I need your cleansing and forgiveness. I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that you died for my sin. I want now to live for you. I invite you into my life. I trust you as Saviour and Lord. I will live and serve in the family and mission of your church.
Amen
This may mark the end of your journey to Christ but it is only the beginning of your journey with Christ.
Prayer for Mimico Baptist Church
To the God who is able to do immeasurably more than all I ask or imagine, according to his power that is within me I invite you to have your way. To a powerful loving God I ask great things. With Jesus, God with us, who promised never to leave us or forsake us we are free to dream large. Lord as we look to the growing opportunities and possibilities of ministry with our communities give us your eyes of faith. Help us to dream your dreams for our lives, our church our community and our world. Grow in us a large faith that will embolden us to make these dreams come true.
- You have strategically placed us, your church in this community to be salt and light. May the peoples of our communities see and know that you are with us that we may seek you together. As participants in your movement of grace may we be known by love.
- Psalm 63:1 O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you in a dry and weary land where there is no water. Lord, make us thirsty for you and put this thirst for you into the people of our communities. May we drink often at your well and invite others to join us.
- Grant us courage to live simply and generously, faithful to the example of Christ that we might contribute more to the needs of others.
- Grant us courage to say yes to what is beyond us but not beyond you when we know it is what you want. Your will be done.
To God be glory in the church and Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen
