Rev. David Donaldson: Associate Pastor-Ministry Teams
Beginning with his missionary parents to Northern Ontario, he learned that the local church is truly the hope of our communities. Starting in the north, then decades of leadership in St Catharines and Guelph churches, he brings years of experience in church leadership. Throughout these years David has integrated his church ministry with his vocational work.
After 20 years in Christian bookstore management, earning a seminary degree, and 9 years in pastoral training in Kenya, God opened the door for pastoral ministry. First, as interim pastor at his and Diane’s ‘home’ church in Guelph, then here at Mimico Baptist.
David and Diane have two grown children and two grand-daughters. Together they enjoy back-country canoe tripping, quiet evenings at home, movies, reading and playing board and card games.

Jan Thomas: Music Director
Her love of the classic hymns combined with a delight in new choruses of worship and praise led her to a blended style of worship which uses both a mini-worship team of piano and guitar, and also a choir and the organ. Jan believes that music adds greatly to the worship service, expressing, reflecting and guiding our response to God. It is her sincere desire to provide a music program which is Scripturally based and beneficial to the congregation. Various opportunities are provided for participation.
Her husband, Dave is also involved in the ministry of music at MBC. Her daughter, Laura is involved in her church in Guelph. Her son, Jeffrey (Andrea), and grandchildren Emily and Olivia are involved at their church in Whitby. She has a B.A. from the University of Toronto, earned her piano certificate from the Royal Conservatory of Music, and studied organ privately.

Susan Qiu: Interim Mandarin Ministry Director
Qiu Yu was born in Changsha, Hunan. After obtaining a Master’s degree in engineering, she taught at a university in Guangzhou. She immigrated to Canada in 2000 and was baptized in 2004. After confirming her calling in 2014, she enrolled in China Evangelical Seminary, later transferred to Tyndale Seminary and received a Master of Divinity degree in 2020. After graduation, she has served full-time or on a volunteer basis in various churches. Pastor Qiu and her husband have two adult children. In her spare time, she enjoys drama, music, dancing, badminton and outdoor walking. She will serve as Interim Director from August 2025-July 2026.
邱羽传道出生于湖南长沙，获工程硕士学位后在广州高校任教，2000年移民加拿大，2004年受洗，2014年确认呼召后入读华神，后转入加神，于2020年获天道加神的道学硕士学位。毕业后在不同教会全职或义务服事。邱传道与先生有两位成年子女，闲时喜欢戏剧、音乐、跳舞、打羽毛球和户外健步走。

Rev. Alvin Lau: Pastoral Team Lead
Since his baptism at the age of 16, Alvin has been involved in a variety of ministry settings (e.g. student leadership, university campus ministry and local youth ministry). With his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Western University) and Masters of Divinity in Youth and Family Ministries (Tyndale University), he joined CBOQ Youth in June 2000, was ordained in March 2004 by Mimico Baptist and as part-time Pastoral Team Lead with Mimico Baptist Church since May 2025.
Alvin and his wife first joined Mimico Baptist in April 2002 and later with their two adult children Elijah and Abigail. Since then, he served in a variety of volunteers including: Youth Leader, Christian Education Council Representative, Chair of the Board of Directors, Livestream Manager and Communications Manager.
He also serves full-time as Youth Ministries Associate with Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec (our association of churches to whom Mimico Baptist belongs). Alvin serves youth leaders and churches as they pass on the truths of God to the next generation, “the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.” (Psalm 78:4b NIV)

Sharon Kettlewell: Office Administrator
She has lived in the Lakeshore area (Mimico/New Toronto) all her life. She graduated from Mimico High School and attended two years at York University. She married Richard in 1976 and has two grown children. Sharon started attending Mimico Baptist since 1988 and began her role in 1992. She is also the proud and fun loving Nana to twins, a girl and a boy.
Sharon’s favourite Bible verse since becoming a born-again Christian in 1969 is 1st Corinthians 10:31, “ So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do All for the Glory of God.” She has done her best, with the Holy Spirit’s help, to live this verse, whether at church (working, singing and volunteering in the choir and as our former librarian) or in her other jobs in the community (usher for MLSE and her one person SES Publishing & Services business.)
