In Memoriam: John Wiseman

  • by

We are saddened by the passing of John Wiseman on Friday, December 13 in his 88th year. He was predeceased by his wife Joyce, his inseparable partner, and friend. John was lovingly and faithfully present with her all through the 59 years of their marriage. John was the brother of Henry, Irene, Doug, Florence, Lillian, and Ruth. He’ll be missed by his nieces and nephews.

John and Joyce were long-time faithful and active members of Mimico Baptist Church. They were greeters and helped with many projects around the church and parsonage. The list of their gifts to the church is considerable. He is now at peace and at home with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

John’s employment included carpentry and shipping/receiving. He was an artisan with wood, a gardener and quite a handyman. He enjoyed puzzles, square dancing, bowling and travel. He is remembered for his generosity, warm smile and strong but loving handshake.

He most recently lived at Sunrise of Mississauga where he appreciated the staff, food and activities. He was well cared for by several members of our church.

Gifts in his memory can be given to the church (Mimico Baptist Church) he loved, his church where he was a cherished member.

Family and friends can join a committal service on Thursday, December 19, 11:30 am at Glendale Gardens (1810 Albion Road Etobicoke, M9W 5T1 – in the Garden of Everlasting life – lot 194D). A luncheon will be hosted at Swiss Chalet (269 Rexdale Blvd) afterwards; please RSVP with Alvin.

A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Saturday, March 15 at Mimico Baptist Church. More details will be available at a later date.
