Acts 12 tells the story of an impossible situation that even the praying church could not understand: Herod executed James and held Peter in prison for trial (and, presumably, execution). An angel freed Peter from prison and from 16 soldiers. (A scene from a comic movie: Peter knocked on the door. Rhoda saw it was Peter and left him knocking while she ran to tell the others the impossible news. Peter stood in front of a closed door hearing the commotion inside.)
God did the impossible! And it was that ‘impossible’ thing that motivated and propelled the church’s message.
What do we think is impossible? Here and now?
