We are excited to announce, with the approval of our membership, that Rev. Alvin Lau will serve as part-time Pastoral Team Lead starting officially on May 1. Alvin brings a wealth of experience both within our Mimico community and his ministry with our CBOQ churches and beyond.
Alvin also serves full-time as Youth Ministries Associate with Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec; he will continue in that same capacity along with this new role. Alvin also volunteers as co-chaplain of Raptors 905; he will conclude his tenure with them at the end of the 2024-25 season.
Alvin’s key responsibilities as Pastoral Team Lead will include leading our pastoral staff, overseeing our services and re-establishing our ministry infrastructure.
Alvin shares, “I am honoured to be called by God at this point in our history to carry out this role. Since joining Mimico Baptist in April 2002, I’ve seen God lead our congregation in so many ministry opportunities, and trust he will continue to do the same.”
Previously, Alvin volunteered in other roles such as youth ministry coordinator, Christian Education council rep, livestream manager, communications manager and chair of the board of directors. Mimico Baptist also hosted Alvin’s ordination in March 2004.
Alvin will continue to call Mimico Baptist his church family along with his wife Natalie and their two adult children Elijah and Abigail.
In the coming weeks, we will begin to consider our next steps for the role of Associate Pastor.
Starting in May, he can be reached at alvin@mimicobaptist.ca.
